Since moving here, I have hiked in a few places, and biked around town. Aside from the extensive trail network in town,
great for walking and biking, there are endless opportunities for hikes. One hike I have recently been on tested me
mentally and physically. It was a 7.8 mile hike in the Mono Cliffs on the Niagara Escarpment. With a canopy of colored
trees, the hike was beautiful. It was at times difficult, but after a steep ascent, there were beautiful views. VIews of
lakes, woods, views off cliffs, and steep ascents. This hike was challenging. If I wasnt with a large group of people, it
would have been the perfect opportunity to put in my headphones, and block out the world.
This hike is perfect to do in the fall, because there are many beautiful views of colored leaves and trees towering over
you. It starts off easy, on mostly flat ground. You pass a lake and apple orchards. As you walk, there is a carpet of
yellow leaves, and leaves delicately falling to the ground. As you walk, there are many ascents, one to a beautiful lookout
on a rock to endless colored trees and sky. There is a steep descent, and one last steep rock formation to climb.
I am not used to walking such distances, so I really had to think positive to get through it. I used every last bit of
energy. But it was worth it.
