A week’s Worth of Delicious, Healthy Drinks

on

I am the type of person that likes flavorful drinks. My coffee is the most important thing I do first thing in the morning. I create a ritual for myself by listening to my favorite music, which is usually trance or deep house, and just sets the tone for the morning.

Here is a list of drinks I put together that you can sip on all day! (No alcohol, sorry!)

1. Lemon-cucumber water

This water is refreshing, hydrating and has minerals to keep you refreshed.

1/2 cucumber

1 lemon

1 inch chunk of ginger

Water

Cut the cucumber and lemon into thin slices. Add the chunk of ginger. Put all ingredients into a pitcher and fill with cold water. Let sit in fridge overnight. Enjoy!

2. Coffee tonic

The first time I tried a coffee tonic was at the Grand Central Market in NYC. This market is so cute, and there was a trendy café booth with awesome coffee drinks. It was a hot day, so I chose their coffee tonic. It was good, made with tonic water. This is my low calorie version.

Coffee brewed as you like it. I use a French press

Ice

Orange seltzer

Brew coffee. Add 1 tsp sugar, ice and mix well. Fill a tall glass 2/3 way with coffee. Top off with orange seltzer.

3. Matcha Latte

This is great to have for some extra energy, and green tea is so beneficial, with tons of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. I just buy matcha powder from my local health food store, add a little sugar and hot milk to make it a latte. So good!

4. Iced Hibiscus tea with blueberries

1 cup brewed hibiscus tea

1 tsp sugar

1/3 cup frozen wild blueberries

Ice

Brew the tea in a pot for 5 minutes. Take out the teabag, add the sugar and the blueberries while the tea is still hot. Cool in the freezer or add enough ice to make it cool. Pour into a tall glass

5. Kombucha

This is a fermented tea bottled with different flavors. It’s a fizzy, refreshing beverage and has beneficial probiotic properties. My favorite is Health Aide’s Blood Orange Carrot.

6. Water flavored with strawberries and oranges

This water is great for taking care of cravings. It’s sweet but with natural sugars, and refreshing.

Slice strawberries and 1 orange thinly. Put into a pitcher and fill with water. Chill overnight in the fridge.

7. Turmeric Latte

I love curling up in bed in the evening with this latte. It has antioxidant properties from the spices and is just so good.

1 cup almond milk

1/2 tsp turmeric

1/4 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp cloves

1/4 tsp ground ginger

1/4 tsp vanilla extract

1 tbsp sugar or maple syrup

Pinch of black pepper

Put all ingredients into a pot and heat through. Whisk the latte vigorously to add foam.
